Gillette Single Ring 1906 Double Edge Safety Razor Sterling Silver
This is a very special Gillette single ring double edge safety razor made in 1906. On occasion, and only for family or company VIP's, King Camp Gillette commissioned razors made of solid silver. Of those that were produced, only two are known to have survived, the razor being offered in this listing is one of those two. The other sterling silver Gillette single ring is owned by a gentleman living in Germany and can be seen at the website mr-razor.com. It has been nick-named 'The Gorham 1907' due to the year of manufacture and the erroneous belief that the Gorham Manufacturing Company out of Providence, RI produced the razor. The silver mark on both razors is an oval with a line through it... a mark which was never used by Gorham. More than likely, Gillette used a different silversmith who was also located in New England, but I have no confirmation of that as of yet.
In the photos provided, I have placed a regular 1906 Gillette Single Ring beside the Sterling Silver Gillette for comparison.
I've met more hardcore Gillette collectors than I can count, and none of them ever owned an antique Gillette this rare and desirable.
Serious offers only!
